These are the finest hand-cut Italian riffler rasps for stone, wood, and plaster. Artisans hand cut each burr one by one, the larger the riffler the rougher the cut. The variety of tool shapes, developed over centuries of use, allows for a range of sculptural forms. The hand tools provide a degree of control in the final shaping of roughly carved areas that power tools cannot match. Good riffler work develops crisp lines/surfaces, removes bruises in stone, hackmarks in wood, and makes the sanding phase easier. Available in 8", 10" and 12" lengths. Extremely limited.
